RECENTLY NAMED SAN FRANCISCO'S 7X7 "HOT 20 UNDER 40" B I O S TANIA KETENJIAN (Co-Executive Producer and Founder) is a journalist, documentarian and sound artist. She initially began her career in journalism as a news reporter at WBAI-Pacifica Radio in New York, later turning to publishing as an editor and designer at Seven Stories Press. Through this, she began interviewing writers and artists for a program called City In Exile on WBAI. Now, Ketenjian produces nationally for PRI’s Studio 360, APM’s Weekend America, NPR’s Day to Day and PRI’s and BBC's The World. She produces internationally for the BBC and BBC World Service in England, CBC in Canada, ABC in Australia and RTE in Ireland. Ketenjian hosts and produces a half-hour weekly program on the arts called Sight Unseen which airs on KALX in Berkeley and is syndicated on Resonance FM in London. Ketenjian completed an audio documentary on Happiness which was sponsored by The Institute of Noetic Sciences and the Flora Foundation. She is co-producer of BIRTH and THE BIRTH TOUR and she teaches audio production to graduate students at the California College of the Arts. She has written for Paper Magazine, California Home and Design, Dazed and Confused, The Times UK and Icon Magazine. She is also a member of an artist’s collective, Quorum, where she contributes sound pieces for exhibitions, including Red House Gallery in Venice, California, Swarm Gallery in Oakland, California and Limn Art Gallery in Los Angeles, California. Tania just launched The [Un]Observed, a Radio Magazine of candid conversations and explorations, works in sound and produced pieces from around the world. Tania shares a studio space with artists collectively called Compound 21 and lives with her husband, Philip Wood, in San Francisco, California. AHRI GOLDEN (Co-Executive Producer and Founder) is an award-winning independent public radio producer, community event organizer, and mother of two. Golden co-founded Thin Air Media in 2005 with Tania Ketenjian. In 2008, Golden and Ketenjian co-produced BORN, a public radio documentary about the postpartum experience in American life. Before producing BORN, Golden and Ketenjian produced BIRTH (2007) and THE BIRTH TOUR (2006-2008), a nationwide event where people come together to talk about birth. Golden served as co-executive producer of Shades of Gray (2004), a public radio documentary about abortion in America. Winner of the NFCB 2004 Golden Reel Award for Best National Documentary, Shades of Gray is available at Audible.com and was distributed by PRI in January of 2003 to mark the anniversary of Roe vs Wade. Golden started in radio as a reporter and producer for KANU, the NPR affiliate in Lawrence, Kansas in 1997. She moved to San Francisco to associate produce PRI’s Beyond Computers, a weekly high-tech news and information program. Shortly thereafter, Golden was promoted to the role of senior producer. From there she went on to serve as senior producer of Beta Project, an audio compilation of women's stories about abortion before it was legalized in the landmark case of Roe vs. Wade. It was this work that inspired PRI’s Shades of Gray. Golden has consulted and freelanced for various stations, shows, networks, and production companies including: Australian Broadcasting Corporation, PRI’s Studio 360, The Loose Leaf Book Company, Mainstreet Heartbeat Radio, Slate Radio, and Salon.com Radio. In addition, Golden associate produced the 35mm feature film Mitsein and has assisted production for The Spitfire Agency. Tours include: Indigo Girls and Winona LaDuke's Honor The Earth and Julia Butterfly Hill's We The Planet. Golden works from home and lives with her husband, and their son and daughter, in the San Francisco Bay Area.
